The Bewitched looks like the lavender sport and also looks like it is trying to sport to white like one of ours did. Too bad we could not
"capture" the white sport plant.

Salish Sea Mist. Long, strong stems and nice blush. Grown under 30-40% shade cloth.

Hollyhill Wedding Day.
Strong stems. Large BB on second flush. Interesting, unusual, 'tubular'-shaped ray florets. Would be fun to cross with a fully double Orchid type. Grown under 30-40% shade cloth.

So far Wedding day has had those tube type florets for us this year. I asked senior judge to classify it and he said "novelty NX". Actually that would be a good class for shows as there is little competition in novelty classes. I bet later flushes of flowers ha more open petals especially in the bottom portion of the bloom. Long strong stems are one of it's best features.

In the first year seedlings I spotted a 2.5 to 3 inch diameter pure white flower that is probably informal decorative and it has a good tight center. The most common major fault in seedlings is bad centers. I will grace you all with a picture in the future.

Steve, I am excited to see your S. Sea Mist! You are getting a lot more of the red violet shade on it in your climate. Not sure the name fits as well as it does for the NW version. Maybe yours is a Southern California Sea Mist.

I have been growing Hollyhill Masquerade and Hollyhill Clowning around since they came into circulation but this year I have the most splendid colorful blooms on them! These two must like the heat!Thumb of 2021-08-22/Islander/72ee78 HH Masquerade
Thumb of 2021-08-22/Islander/72d7dd Hollyhill Clowning Around/ And yes, those colors are what I am getting this year! Msquerade has never had this much white before and CLowning around has been a much paler pinkish orange.

HH Black Beauty is a cut flower first but does very well in the shows especially when shown by one of the best: Connie Young Davis.

Noni, I trialed her under 30-40% shade cloth, I am thinking that was the reason for the increased blush. I am resigned to the fact that now days, here, I have to grow under shade cloth to get salable commercial cut flowers. I am surprised how well the stems did under shade, I was expecting more 'floppy' necks.

HH Black Beauty should do great in show competition, especially the multi-bloom classes. It is easy to find 3 matching blooms when growing just a few plants of her.HH Black Magic might be even better for triples.

20th Ave Softer Peach was introduced by John Spangengburg(Crazy 4 Dahlias) for another breeder? Not seen on West coast so far.

It was bred by Rich Gibson. He's a member (and former president) of the Capitol Dahlia Society. We've become friends and he gifted me a cutting after the tuber I purchased didn't sprout. It has petals for days and the stems are nice. Right now it's about 4' tall.

That is a great color for cut and it looks like it might haver show potential. I assume you are taking many cuttings from the plant so you can sell pot tubers. Smiling

My 20th Ave Softer Peach is probably a week from blooming. Soooo many of my plants are late this year, or probably won't bloom at all. That awful hot weather at the end of June really 💩 on plant growth and bloom production.

My contribution to the bad seedling photos. There's a blush of red on the petals.

Em, my eyes can't quite distinguish - are those petals rolled forward (like an Orchid type) or backwards (like a Cactus type)?

Backwards, unfortunately.
