April , I may offer some of the cut flower ones to you guys this next spring, but must save some for my cut flower customers who love them...especially Sunsplinters. I think that is the one that most of my customers have commented on and would want. A few I may try the Test Garden route. I am thinking of doing that with Going Dark and Salish Windstorm. This years seedings I need to grow again before deciding anything. I am so hoping that Eclypse and Salish Danielle will make good tubers!

I would say the seedling is about the size of HH Miss White possibly a tiny bit larger ,

This large flower was bred by the late Roy Takeuchi who took care of the trial garden at the Golden Gate park in San Francisco. It is somewhat rare these days as it is a bit below average in tuber making and keeping. We have been growing it for many years and no longer sell it as Margaret claims all the tubers. When we did sell it, unexpected losses would result in only a couple of plants for us. It has been growing really well for us and this year is no exception. I have no idea who the Sarah Mae the person was. If it was named after a real person, I bet she would have been flattered.

I got it from Big Dahlias in 2016 and it was surprisingly generous with the flowers. I was really neglectful of replanting my dug tubers so I won't get flowers this year, but it's in the ground now, so next year! Since it is from SF, it is not surprising it does fine with little sun and heat.

Poor Drew...he has offered some good advice on here, so I will take all of that weird wisdom I got from repeatedly watching "The Craft" back in the day, and turn him into this wayward bumblebee!

Hmm... that's pretty, Viking. Never grew that before. How does it compare to Blizzard, Noni?

Centercourt is at least 2-3 tmes the size of Blizzard. Its a very pretty flower and looks nice in bouquets, grows on a nice sized plant..One of Swan Island's long time good ones. I don't seem to have any pics I have taken of it recently but I haven't been doing much with whites...that may change if pick up the local wedding that lost its Florida flowers to the hurricane.

This is an AC PAC taken when things were overcast and smoky. A very intense flower.

Bouquet I gave to my mom for a friend. What it lacks in artistry, it makes up for in favorite new dahlias for this year: Sandrine and Nutley Sunrise. Happy to have Wyn's King Salmon in my garden again, and new stock of Zoey Rey made some pretty flowers for me, though it doesn't pump them out.

Nick Gitts says that white has recently become one of his hottest selling colors, probably because of weddings. He cannot get enough white to fill orders and is looking for white cut flower varieties to augment his stock. He said the florists flipped into the dark flower mode last week and the orders changed to the darker flowers of dark red and orange and of course HH Black Beauty.
The Cafe au Lait craze continues at a furious pace. He cancelled all his wholesale orders for it and switched to retail prices of $20.00 per bunch and still cannot keep up with orders. He says he has had to rogue out up to 20% of the stock every year to keep it healthy. The spider mites are in the Cafe' au lait and he doing all he can to bring them under control.

This year seems to be the white/ cream / red-- burgundy wedding year...just wish you girls would go with the colors of the season..... We are VERY happy to NOT have a wedding this week - down at the wholesalers for a show and the walk-in coolers are empty of almost all South American product ( ROSES, hydrangea, alstroemaria, poms) because all that stuff comes thru Miami .

Wow, AC PAC seems to be very full with plenty of recurve to the stem for you... All of mine have been very flat with absolutely NO recurve, though they have gotten quite big. Very hard to get the correct vibrant magenta color in the picts of this one...
