I totally love Hello Dolly and so do visitors to my garden. I just had a young lady here today who loved it. Its some thing about the golden glow in the middle that makes it look lit up from within.

Margarita likes this area. It grows very tall, and is generous with the flowers. I planted one very late this year and it is now as tall as others if not as bushy, and has a bud so I know I will get at least one flower this season.

Benny - are you happy with Jumbalaya? The color and form of mine looks more like yours than the picture on the web site. It has produced many large blooms, but they are more red than orange, and the red is what I call brickish.

They had a class for variegated flowers at the show. Hollyhill Dragonfire won over several entries. I believe it has a future and will be released in 2019. It is larger than most of our flowers at about 7 inches in diameter. Margaret wants to put it into a basket with HH Black Beauty.
Yes yes yes! I NEED that one! And I would love to see one of Margaret's arranements with it...did she do any yet? I think it needs some further testing in my garden

I see a very large trade of tubers/cuttings happening next year!!! I am looking for flowers with different colors on the reverse and several others.
Very good looking with very regular varigations. Here's hoping the flecks stay as uniform as they are in the picture.
I kind of like Sandia Tiger but the varigation tends to be erratic.

This 2015 seedling has a different color on the reverse side of the petal , probably not what you were looking for though

When the Scandinavian people visited last week, we asked whether the Danish gentleman who hybridized "Rolf" was still alive. His last name was Gregorsdahl. He is still alive and they see him from time to time. We told them to tell him that all our variegated dahlias come down from his Rolf.

Yup, that one does have different colored reverse. As the flower petals mature it is harder to see but as a seed parent, I bet it would pass on the trait.
Benny, that is a very interesting dahlia I would love to play with a handful of them and see what happens in a bouquet with that.Sometimes it suggests a new and interesting combination of other flowers to complement it. RIght off I would say Soft yellows, lavenders, pinks and a copper foliage like coppertina ninebark.

I have used it in a couple bouquets and it seems to look nicer with company , the overall color is not super exciting on its own .. As Ted stated it may pass that trait on to be something a bit more colorful in future generations .

I am quite taken by Bloomquist Globe... I think I have more images of this one then any other, currently. I wasn't going to buy it, based on the blah-orange color on the website... but I believe someone posted a show pict last year of it, and the coloration is much more of a rich soft yellow with a tad bit of sherbet orange. The reverse petals are stunning, streaked with red, with a dark picotee red outline. The plant is sturdy, with all the blooms lifted well above the bush. This one will be invited back next season, for sure. Here's hoping the tubers are hearty.
Mine is just hitting its stride also, Cc. Out of 4 I picked today only one of them I would truly call orange and it is more of a soft orange, not bright. The others are all the way between soft yellow and a very soft buttery orange.
I have so many flowers in bloom we have used up all the buckets and still didn't get everything picked that we would like to! I HOPE ITS A BIG MARKET TOMORROW!
I will start making bouquets after lunch and see if we can free up a few more buckets...

AC Susi is a good 6 feet high, with gorgeous dark stems.
LOVE Hollyhill Contessa... grows short for me (is that normal, Ted?) with a delicious glow that comes shining out of the blooms. Had to have it after seeing it at a show a couple years back.
Carl is simple, but sweet. Not sure if I'll grow it again.
Whomever traded AC Joe back to me after my stock went open-centered, THANK YOU so much! I really missed this one last year.
Country Superstar really put out a few spectacular blooms, like the first one. The second image is more standard fare, but still well-worth growing.
