Lovely. It looks like it would be a good replacement for Kilburn Glow with the super-saturated color. Will have to try and get a hold of some for next year.

RPT stands for 'Red Pink Tigress,' being a red sport of the HH Pink Tigress. Looks like the camera shifted the colors a bit on that pict.
I've been frustrated trying to shift colors the appropriate way post-production, after using a cell phone that adjusts for skin tones... but I love using the cell because I can label the images during capture. I've actually gotten some difficult colors CORRECT by focusing on my hand right next to the bloom, and taking the image before it re-adjusts back to the bloom.

Clearview Edie is finally going to bloom. It is in a row where all the dahlias are stunted. I think it happened in the high heat of early June. After that one, I think there are 4 or 5 that haven't bloomed and I'm not sure they will this season.

The smoke from all the forest fires gives the pictures a bit of a different color. I believe the extra light in the picture is green as my older photo of RPT has almost no green.
HH RPT does have red pigment I would call deep, deep, dark pink. There are different versions of red pigment in dahlias. I suppose this red has just a touch of blue pigment in it. The crayola color called scarlet has a touch of blue in it. The wiki people say that scarlet is red with a touch of orange and that is not this color. The crayola scarlet is closer.

Cell phones process pictures much more than cameras even when the camera is set to automatic. I read a review of cell phone cameras versus cameras of several types and they reported that the really good cell phones take pictures as good( or better quite often) as cameras most of the time. What you do not have with a cell phone is the ability to adjust the settings. That is the advantage and the disadvantage of cameras. The disadvantage being that we generally take worse pictures when we use manual settings but every once in awhile we take a perfect one.

Clearview Edie. It is growing pretty well this year. Margaret used it in her white design at the show along with HH Diamond.
Making some mock ups for my daughter's wedding...playing with colors and forms and to show her what might be available in a month. The wedding colors are peach, navy, apricot and silvery green so this was mostly just to show her some of the flowers I had in that color range. And here was to show her Crazy4Carol which we hope to use for small pieces and corsages,, and as a unifying color scheme that will run through everything Some of these are looking too pink in the photo...Good to know they might not photograph well.

Love what you've done with that color scheme. Especially the first bouquet.
THanks, Amanda! I was trying to follow what I know my daughter wants for her wedding... She says Take out the blue and purple stuff and use White ammi instead of the green but I did this one my way

Here is Clearview Edie for me this year
Gaylen Rose ( thank you Darcy )
Hollyhill Miss White ( Beautiful as ever )
First year seedling
Lovely bunch of White with lavender touches Benny! Is the little seedling smaller then Miss White or is that just the way it photographed. I sure would like a white pom that looked that good!
I tried to pick more bright dahlias today for Market instead of all my lavender blend ones...since the weather has been gloomy and is supposed to be only 62 degrees at market tomorrow. I filled all my buckets and there are still dahlias out there I want to pick, darn it! Gotta cut back more next year...
I am featuring my own hybrids this time...they are so prolific! Each variety seems to fill a bucket so that is about 35-40 bb's. I am taking Salish Pearl, Salish Snowday, Sunsplinters,, My Dave, Sparky(A nice red with little gold spark at each tip,) Red Wagon, and Peppermint Patch.I think I might need to pick Salish Cascades too just to fill out my selection, and oh yes, The 3 Labyrinth type ones, Salish Buckskin, Smoky Dawn, and Hmm, can't even think that the 3rd one is, LOL... . Other then that I am going for reds and golds and Blacks tomorrow..

I really appreciate all the wonderful blooms you all are sharing! I am going to approach some smaller floral shops here in the next few weeks. I'm not looking to sell my dahlias much this year, but want to see if I can grow the dahlias they sell, even if it is cafe au lait (yes I'm like Ted, I don't grow it). A horticulture student friend told me that most dahlias don't look great when they arrive here from South America...things that make me go hmmmm. It could be a win-win situation!

I don't believe there are many , if any, dahlias coming in from South America for the florist trade. Dahlias are pretty terrible shippers....There are some coming from Holland ( avoid these like the plague !) that are shipped dry. They are going to be practically useless. Some are coming out of California, shipped in proconas--a plastic tub with water that has a cardboard sleeve and ventilated lid. The flowers, being that they are shipped " wet" come in fine, just that the varieties are pretty poor. We in the northeast, do get some from Canada ( there is a huge cut flower, pot plant growing area around Toronto !) and they are also shipped in water and arrive in good shape, but again the varieties !
Fresh is the only way to go with dahlias--- Melissa, you should have no problem getting florists interested, especially if they have ordered them in from Holland and had they were unusable. And you have the advantage of supplying color and size options----right now, white, pink, red, burgundy and some orange in a 3" bloom is about all that is available (EXCEPT for the lovely Cafe au Lait ! ).

Noni, when are you releasing your dahlias? Need to save some money?
