Very nice DG , I love Windhaven Blush , always a favorite here .
I also grew Darcy's Shea sport but it was shaded out and I'm not sure it even bloomed for me , happened to find it the other night when I was flagging named varieties at the grow . I will blame Ted for not seeing Darcy's sport as it was a couple of HH varieties that shaded it out , they have been guilty of that several times over the years Whistling

Final judgment of jute twine: I hate it.
I know that sounds harsh, but this is what the good plants look like. The bad ones are broken, and are trying to re-sprout and start over. They are not happy. I am not happy that they are not happy.

Sorry I haven't posted much of my garden this year... I have them all up (open to the public) at my FaceBook page, if anyone is interested. Search for 'Cici Vacation' and look under albums.

Here are some of my top faves this year:

These exceptional dahlia varieties have just made my heart sing this year. Sadly, I will not be trading most of these special ones this year. I will be increasing my stock for 2017, and if I have extras from this season, I will be selling them to support my beekeeping hobby (which is getting pretty expensive and is not supporting itself yet).

Gorgeous pics, CC.

Especially liked AC Riley, AC Todo and Bloomquist Sunrays. I was lucky enough to grow the last this year, and it was gorgeous.

I may need to sell something to support my cat- keeping hobby. Still waiting for it to pay for itself. Hilarious! maybe i should give them some sort of credit for services rendered: pest control, shelf-clearing, alarm clock...

Rolling my eyes. and cats aren't even particularly edible... I've been hearing about THAT dahlia fault for years from hubby, who much prefers hobbies with a yummy harvest.

Beautiful pictures of beautiful dahlias, CC. I , too, loved Bloomquist Vivian! What wonderful colors it has displayed all summer in my garden, and a nice strong plant also. Nice to see how some of those AC's looked for you. I may have to spring for a a couple of them...

I loved Bl. Vivian. Bloomquist Kristie is supposed to be the better show bloom, and it was nice in a subtle way, but Vivian's flaming hot purplish-pink just screamed "hey, baby, check me out" every time I passed. Probably cut more of that one then any other this season.

Talked to Les, and he said that all his extra stock of B. Vivian was snatched by a vendor before he opened his site for orders. I had worried that it wasn't a good tuber maker, but apparently it is. I want to say I have about five plants of it... Not sure. Planning to grow at least that many next year, in different spots.

All that talk about B. Vivian and no picture but you did post a picture previously. I bet it is named after Vivian Connell. As Noni says it could have better form but when you sell a bouquet, you do not tell the customer about the finer points of show dahlias. I may surprise Margaret with this one as it comes with good recommendations and I need lots of bright color genes in the garden.

I think you should try it, Ted. The color is wonderful although maybe not quite as bright as your picture, when not in full sun. It is a big strong plant also., and grows as tall as your Hollyhill varieties I grew both it and Bl Kristie (Because I have a daughter named Kristie :-). I Liked them both but would choose Vivian if I could have only one. I have no doubts it is named for our Vivian R Connell She is a most elegant lady.

It takes a strong personality to keep her husband Les in line. I remember about 5 years ago when Vivian said, "I am going see to it that Les retires from being a commercial dahlia nursery and this may be his last year." Apparently she has been saying that every year and it has not stuck. Les is one of the best commercial dahlia sellers that uses a walker to get around.

I told him that of all my orders last season, his was the only one with no virus signs and everything correctly labeled. I commended him on his dedication, and how pleased I was with his generous fulfillment of my order. I hope he keeps on growing, as a dedicated man like that needs a job to do to keep on ticking.

I picked his brain about the new releases...

Of all his new releases offered, he was most impressed with Bloomquist Carol. Lots of blooms with excellent form. He talked me into it... I'm hoping there is a bit of yellow to offset all that orange. He had only good things to say about T. Strongheart as well. Bl. Globe was enjoyed by him, with the red in the center, but it was tough to match three in a show, as the amount of red varies so much. Apparently, T. George S (Dark Shadow) made lousy tubers, and he doesn't have any more of that stock. The deep purple release was an early bloomer, but not the best of form: For folks looking for cutters, you might want to check that one out. The T. Early Dawn did well for him, but he found that you had to cut it young, as the centers open quickly.

Good feedback on Early Dawn...I just ordered it. I will try to remember that.

For some reason I suddenly seem to be falling for the white dahlias with a bit of pearlesent lavender, yellow or pink. Now where is THAT coming from? Confused Hilarious! Is it going to be a trend and I just haven't identified it yet?

Chilson's Pride. Probably the most planted dahlia in the 1970s and perhaps some other decades.

Anyone here still growing it? There's a surprising lack of that shade of pink and I think I have always passed over it because it seems "too common" but I am not sure it is anymore.
I may try it next year.

One Dahlia Judge who is a "Dahlia Snob" despises Chilson's Pride. He says it has poor form, the petals split in the slightest bit of warm weather and it fades in the sun. Most dahlia growers put up with it's foibles and love it for it's nice color. As most of you know, it sets the bar for the number of fat, easy to divide, easy to store tubers. For the virus trackers, it has been known to have a bit of virus, so one does need to search for pristine stock. Healthy stock produces very strong plants with lots of flowers with good stems. It has been said that an 11 bloom basket was picked off of just two plants.
