I found my Born Rojo! Its alive and has its first bloom. I was so afraid I had lost it. Instead, it is looking nice and strong and hopefully will get more tubers off it in another month. Its a 5" red stellar on a long strong stem. Looks totally different from Ms Prissy.

Born Rojo a nice cut flower. I stopped growing it in hopes of having mostly dahlias good for show AND cutting in my collection and Born Rojo always had hard green centers for me. It maybe does better in cooler weather. Born Sty has similar growth habits and slightly better form. Nice long strong stems, sturdy bush, healthy clean foliage.

Hard green centers on Rojo would be off-putting. I don't think I have ever seen that happen here. It does always seem to have a little break in the color on a petal or two. This first bloom has a thin yellow stripe on one. Not a problem for a cut flower. Customers will probably marvel at that little stripe Big Grin

Your HH GLoria sure is pretty! I do love this one but it mostly blows out its center early...and not just in the fall. I still grow it every year just for the few blooms which behave.

Bloomquist Sterling , planted up by the house at my parents and it's just too darn hot and dry in that spot , need some work done or something to shade the plants there a bit as they just did not do as well as I had hoped .

I planted Bloomquist Stirling and it has been nice but very little lavender on it. Its a very nice flower though. I wonder whether sun or shade produces form lavender tints on this one...

I believe it must Noni , here I'll show you the other side of that bloom as it has almost no tint or blush , stands to reason that was the side facing the sun .

Clearview Edie has almost no blush for me here , beautiful fantastic bloom but the blush is almost undetectable unless you bring the bloom indoors for a couple days . Blush or not Edie is drool-worthy to me Lovey dubby

Hollyhill PInk TIger and Hollyhill Monet are finally big enough and happy enough to put out multiple blooms. SO that is what my customer will get tomorrow. Those two dahllias really go together quite well. I cut some mina lobata vine and found some Smoke bush that is getting its autumn colors so there is a red glow to the purple...and added some Hollyhill Rudolph, Evening Lady and and little orange formal dec's (Swan Island's "Sugar Daddy".) Still needs to be arranged but I am liking it just tumbled into a vase to condition. I will arrange it in the morning.

I was looking through available Wyn's dahlias and I think I found my 'Pleasant Folly' from PV. So, yay, nice to put a name to it.

Ketchup and Mustard won the Peoples Choice class twice this year. I have never seen that happen before. It probably would be good for individual flower sales.
