This is Sarah Huston. Definitely no orange in it!

Saah Houston is the mythical dahlia that shows up in some pictures and yet NO ONE has it.

Western New York State Dahlias! Dahlias! Dahlias!
Sarah Huston isn't supposed to have any orange. She is a light blend of pink and yellow. Now, do you have any, or was that just a photo from a show?

I WISH I had it! I know one person who does. The photo was taken at our 2015 show where it was King. I tried all last year to obtain a tuber. The person who grew it has no interest in sharing, and I always remember what you said Ted about sharing your best with trusted friends, or you might lose it. I would grow it just to preserve and enjoy it, not to compete. I have written to growers across the country and no one admits to having it, so I fear it will become one more extinct variety very soon. I would have been happy with a cutting to try and root, but that's out of the question - at least this year. If any of you know a source, please let me know.

................AC Crazy Train...........................Very Small Vassio Meggos...................NOT Wyn's Pinking of You................................AC Joe.......................
Those are the only 'new' pictures of cvs I have today. Or at least I think they're new pictures.
If anyone has an idea about Mystery Dahlia #3, there, I'd be happy to hear it. None of the pictures I see of Wyn's Pinking of You are variegated. It's the first set of blooms, and although I have heard of the 'settling in phenomenon' causing dahlias to have wonky blooms for the first year, they're not supposed to be this wonky and still be the labeled plant.

Sarah Huston: have her send tuber to Corralitos and they can sell cuttings. The world would be a better place.....

DG, how big is Mystery Dahlia #3? Two that come to mind are Nita and Pink Mick's Peppermint.
I was thinking about Pink MIck's Peppermint too but it doesn't look a lot like mine...the shape isn't the same. Of course that could be due to the weather difference.
IN spite of that downpour all day yesterday I (We have had over 9" of rain here this month) I have picked 6 overstuffed buckets of flowers so I will be able to do market this last Saturday of the month of October! ( I figure that at this point they are better picked and in the garage then out in intermittent showers. I've been picking and Wwoofergirl comes along behind to cut the plants down and secure labels.
Hollyhill Warlock is one of the most wonderful dahlias I have grown...! How come you were holding out on that one, Ted? Is it one that doesn't make good tubers? If so, how can I preserve it for next year? That beauty is still putting out big varigated red and gold flowers on strong stems, even at the back of the garden where it gets the lowest light at this time of year. It shows no inclination to quit and is loaded with big fat buds. I picked all the half opened ones to use in my final bouquets this weekend.
This pic makes it look sunbleached...just a photo effect, it doesn't bleach out in the sun!

HH Warlock: Is it one that doesn't make good tubers?
It always made lots of easy keeping tubers for us. It may well be the biggest sleeper of all the Holyhill varieties. It actually won best triple in show in a Mid West show years ago. One Portland club member considers it his favorite dahlia and he was ecstatic when it sported to solid red. I had to replace his variegated stock and now he has two favorites. Of course, the key recommendation is that Margaret likes it.

It's probably Nita, then, because I was supposed to have two of those in the same row that had disappeared. It never bloomed last year, so I didn't look up it's name, thinking they were gone. I had actually listed them as MIA and possibly DIG (dead in ground). Nice to know I was wrong! It's a little Bi-polar for size, though, as you can see.
Now to figure out what happened to Wyn's Pinking of You!
Any thought as to what this Not So Very Peachy Mostly Orangey mystery dahlia labeled 'Just Peachy' might be? I really like it a lot, but I'd also like to know who it may be. Remember it may be a lot smaller than what you're used to, so if you have a 'maybe/could be' idea, please let me know. It may be another one that I've 'written off'. (Because we've already established that some tiddly winks got played with my labels in that row...)
Thanks for all your help!

And another for the 'Whatever it is I Like it' File ( ):
...............Fully Open....................................Just Opening, bit of White.......
This one came labeled HH Bewitched, I thought it may be HH Black Beauty and Noni thought so too, but Ted thinks it may be a sport of HH Bewitched.
I would like to know what to call it if it's got a name, though, but it's not going to keep me awake at night if it has to be a NoID. I'm in the 'It's All Good' zone on this one, other than hoping it stays this way if it's a sport because I'm sure I can get another HH Bewitched somewhere.
OH Yes, that is a nice one, C DG! Lots and lots of petals in a great color!

There are some good genes in there, for sure!
I'm thinking, if it does well over the winter, I'll put a plant or two out front next year where there's a bit more shade and a lot fewer voles, and see how it does out there. Mel's Orange Marmalade is so happy there, as is Robann Royal and Windhaven Firelight (although it may need MORE light), so I'm wondering how it would do under the same circumstances.

Cynthia, it could be Nita. I've never grown Mick's Pink Peppermint but here is a Nita I grew a few years ago.
And here it is reverting to Juanita sometime later.

Thanks for the historical facts Ted. When I give bouquets to people I like to give these little tid bits to them.
