There was a triple of pixie at our state fair show last year that was stunning. It has some potential to be great if it's consistent.

"...if it's consistent." Grow more plants. Steve Santos grew 200 Edna C. plants one year. You grow enough to get what you want. He only grew 40 plants of Inland Dynasty to have enough flowers for three shows.
I've had some really pretty HH Pixie's but I think they got virused. Not sure whether I have any left this year.

LOVEBUG (MID) *2018*4†bright mauve pink blooms bringing such love to your heart. These unusual colored blooms will compliment almost any color. The pink blooms even carrying a little blue undertones, great arranging flower 4'.

Lovely. Reminds of some of my fave dahlias. I love that color blend.
Very Nice, Ted. I apprently have Pink Tigress rather then the gold Tigress though I think mine started out as a HH Tigress, then last year some were blushed with pink and some mostly Red -Pink Tigress. Its pretty in all its different color forms. And well liked at the Market.

Pink Tigress is a seedling of Tigress and it has a pink blush. It sports to solid red and then is RPT for red pink tigress. Tigress has sported to red too but the flower looks coarse in red as the form changes with the extra pigment.
THat is the prettiest shot of that one I have seen. It was not very impressive last year here and I left it in the ground figuring it would probably survive. If it is going to look like that I hope it is still out there. I haven't seen it yet but there are still more to have their first bloom .

Nice Zorro and other flowers. Zorro was first introduced by Madelyn Giesert in about 1990 when we went to our first dahlia show. It was pretty impressive but we were looking for cut flowers then and remarked that it was just too big. Zorro was the result of a seed pod that had only one seed. Zorro pollinated the Edna C. seed pod that had one seed that produced Spartacus. Zorro is one of those flowers that has a huge first flush of flowers and the subsequent blooms are very small in comparison.
AC Ben is nice flower but the stock goes bad easily, probably virus.
Woodlands Wild Thing was Bill Mishler's most successful introduction. He was a retired bricklayer who grew dahlias and fruit trees. A visit to his place in September scored looking at his nice flowers and he would let you pick some apples from his extensive orchard. My, those apples were good.

Hamari Accord would be more popular if the tubers did not get broken necks during harvest. Skinny necks, fat tubers equals broken necks. It was the top dog in the shows and still has that potential but I wonder why people stopped showing it much. Probably they got tired of the yellow color. Clearview Cameron has nice form AND beautiful color.

Sweet blooms, Tina! :)
Here are a few of mine...
Nenekazi
HollyHill Black Cherry (a little bug nibbled, but cute anyway)
Tahoma Curve (bonus from Dahlias by Les and Viv, I put it in a bed that gets late afternoon shade, and I really like it!)

H A takes a little more time to dig but always good form --- and it makes seeds

Narrows Tricia is a seedling of Hamari Accord. It was thought to be genetically identical but it is not. Slightly different color and some other differences including tubers are different. It too makes seeds. .When Margaret put together a basket of both varieties, even the breeder of Narrows Tricia could hardly see any differences. It too has fallen out of the shows. Perhaps people got tired of taking care of the plants and bringing really nice blooms to a show only to be beat by someone else bringing the same flower. Judges also get "jaded" and seem to look for something else to win. Hamari Accord is a slightly better show flower as it can achieve great depth. Neither are in my garden any longer.
