So I unwrapped a couple long enough to take pictures. Considering I've never grown dahlias before I was wondering if they're progressing as they should.

This is supposed to be Ferncliff Copper. I thought the color was a tad off but maybe I just need to wait?

Thank you Ted! I missed that little tidbit in reading the older posts. I have a LOT to learn.
Heaven knows it's been hot here - there's been two days in the last month it hasn't been in the mid/high 90s. I've been mostly concentrating on keeping them alive until the end of August when it should cool off and keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have an early frost.
The color looks way off for Ferncliff Copper. It should have NO purple tinge to it. I suspect this one is an imposter. Sorry I can't show you what it should look like because my bloom seems to be an imposter also.

Mine aren't even close to blooming. Unfortunately when it does, I'll be in SC.
I'm waiting to see that one and Hamari Gold - both new to me this year.

Some new blooms:
Clearview Peachy - it seems like there was some chat about this one so I'm posting a few pictures. It starts off somewhat dark but lightens considerably as it ages. Nice ball; good centers.
(early bloom to late bloom)
and all at once

Every day when I see Steve O I marvel at the generosity of one of our members who gifted me with this! Absolute favorite this year, growing well and blooming well, even in the heat here! Hoping, hoping, hoping for lots of tubers from this one.

I should have taken this picture yesterday - the center is starting to open, but it has been in bloom for quite a while now.

Clearview Peachy at the trial garden was very tall growing. The ball flowers were very large for a ball dahlia . The color varied quite a bit from bloom to bloom.

There is a lot of variety in the color, and I'm not sure that peachy is the color word I would have chosen.
I suspect that peachy is the color it is in the PNW which might vary considerable in other climates. The head of our test garden was laughing about one of the volunteer staff who exclaimed "That's so peachy" upon first seeing it. I suspect that person was me Of course she already knew its name.
I amawaiting a bloom on mine to check this out

Picture of our pot tubers. Can you guess which one is HH Tangelo? It is the tallest BB flower we have ever bred.
Cafe Au Lait Royale. OK, question answered...this is NOT the same as the normal hot weather coloring my CAL get. This really is more of a raspberies and cream color and quite pretty except it is flat as a pancake! Also, the stem on this first one was only about 5" but then I have not gotten to disbudding yet on this one. I had forgotten even where it was until I saw it blooming. I'm betting it will be a good event flower for me. I will do some vase testing with it. It is also considerably ahead of my regular Cafe Au Laits. They aren't even showing color yet.
2nd bloom on this 2018 seedling. The first bloom got sold right out of the seedling patch to a customer....this one is even better then the first bloom bb size, nice long stem, beautiful color! B sized very short pale yellow "S Moonlight. We will see how tall this one grows but it looks so nice in the garden! Bigger then most of my seedlings. I'll try to catch it again with full sunlight and fully open.

Did I just see a picture of a "school bus yellow" flower in Noni's garden?
