JS Butterscotch is in full bloom. Verrone's Df has also opened up it's first bloom as well.

My dahlia jungle garden. I know some peeps have seen this on FB, but it shows what is happening in my NE garden. The late May 100 degree heat messed with my season, but I overcame I think.

This plant has tried to die on me multiple times. I kept trying to keep her alive.

Way to go! PNW Gal! And by the way, your seedlings you sent a couple of years ago for me to try are doing very well! (Except for Beginner's Luck which I no longer have. THe little orange one has turned into an excellent cut flower and so have the two reds. I will try to take photos to send, but I think those 3 have a good cut flower future. Some how ended up with only one of the purples this year but it is a fine healthy one too and I like the color changes on it! I will be keeping all 3 or 4 for next year again and consider them permanent plants in my repertoire..

I hope you are producing more for me to try!.

Jon, your Coral Shag Carpet has been phenomenal this year! I took care to plant it where it could get plenty of sun and space and it just turns out one flower after another with those gorgeous colors! For some reason Benny
s Michigan Peach has been very short this year...it apparently didn't like our hot July and August, but I think it is growing now. I sure hope so because I love the flowers from it.

But I've had some very light Tahoma Vivians this year, which then deepened the color later on.

Hollyhill Bewitched is one of Margaret's favorites but she is a snob about what color is proper as it varies a bit. I like this one.

What a lovely color, TJ! I am growing it this year, too, and the flowers are lovely, though my stock doesn't deliver many of them. I understand growing conditions really influence how much the petal tips split. I think heat increases it? Probably, since I don't get a lot of split tips on my flowers.

I took a close look at Showcase M and the petals have very deep splits, which make them look like separate petals.

Penhill varieties were originated in South Africa where the production of giant seeds was much easier. I do not know what happened to them but there have not been any new ones in years.
