I checked my paperwork, and actually I got my HH Tigress directly from you Ted, so It must be a slightly sported version of Tigress. I am very happy with it.
My AC Crazy train seems to have almost no variegation in its colors and the above explains it - thanks.
Interesting about Crazy Train. I got a start from my friend and planted a healthy one in my garden, It was right next to Pink MIck's Peppermint and all that is there is a big pink one. I guess when you get a Crazy Train you just never know....NOthing wrong with big pink ones though!

Noni, no wonder you love Janelle! Where did you order yours from?
I bought Janelle from Blossom Gulch maybe 2 years ago, so apparently it makes tubers that keep. I was able to plant 3 plants of it this year. Mike Ihler wasn't selling it last year but I would be glad to trade tubers with you.

This is our second year growing Hollyhill Ripple , it is a clear favorite with everyone that visits or happens to walk by .

Ripple is related to both Bewitched and Black Beauty and makes lots of tubers and seems to be trouble free. It makes lots of seeds that sprout and I have marked some seedlings from it this year. It was a 2008 seedling.

Ripple is fantastic to grow and is a standout in the garden . I have a few seedlings from it but nothing to brag about yet .
This is this the tallest plant at the grow and Mom absolutely LOVES it
I am very fond also , seems to be heat resistant but you will need a ladder to cut blooms from it

I would love anything with Black Beauty genes! It has bloomed so well and so long and seems to be resistant to fungal wilt that really affected two rows in the garden...only the HH Black Beauty is left standing (4 plants randomly staggered) where everything melted on those rows (must have been too much water in that zone).

Zarina is a bit too tall to be practical. It does have great straight cactus form.

It definitely makes a statement though . As it has to be at least 7' tall now

I am loving the very tall ones since I can see them as I am driving through the farm.

I wonder how tall Zarina would be in my yard - Skipley Bonanza Snoho Storm and a couple others are easily over 8 ft. here.

We had our MN dahlia society tour today. My plot was a stop and there were 3 other gardens. The last one was a grower with over 500 plants. Here are some photos. He's a show grower that has only been growing serious for 3 years. Pretty amazing display. There was 3 (or maybe 4?) separate plots. He probably has 3 feet between plants so his gardens take up a lot of space.
