Dibs on any extra tubers, Benny! I lost mine this winter. It was one of my favorites.
My patch is getting so beautiful. There will be lots of dahlias to cut tomorrow. And I will have the full color range minus whites for market. No one is even going to notice its absence.

Wow! Those are beauties. I was listing the ones I really liked, but ended up with the whole list Hilltop Lost Treasure is very nice! Still waiting for Snoho Storm here.In fact, none of my whites have bloomed, yet.
Sold my first Snoho Storm for a wedding today. It wasn't quite spinning a blizzard but it might be by tomorrow. Others for the white wedding were Irish Ruffles, Ferncliff Pearl, Tahoma Glaciar (Slightly creamy yellow...a beautiful little thing), Bride to Be (Only a couple in bloom yet, HH Diamond popped its center at the last minute. I'm glad Irish Ruffles was really pumping them out! I might go to 2 plants of it next year, Its never been better! Used Some Pearl Diver and Bloomquist Tori, and Midnight Moon for the pale ("Misty") colors the bride wanted, along with Ice Girl And some pale pink roses.
Sorry, Brides Aunt arrived to pick them up before I could take a photo,
Glad to have that taken care of, now on to prep for Market.

Bloomquist Cayson - nice, true red
It's planted right next to Clearview Claret and BQ Cayson is definitely a truer red. Clearview Claret is tilting toward the blue side of red. It looks more like magenta - or a glass of claret wine!

Red dahlia breeding is very frustrating. Pure red dahlias are not common in seedlings.

Everyone talks about dahlia seeds, but I don't think I've ever seen one. Maybe I deadhead before they form.
RIght, Sylvia! YOU can't have seeds if you deadhead before they form. Choose some that you would like seeds of, then tie a bright flaggers plastic tape around the stem with the info (who is it) so you won't accidently dead head it. Keep the tape in it until you get the seeds saved and can transfer the name to the envelope. I label the paper towel I dump them out on also.
Planting our seeds and finding cool seedlings is just so much fun! I am finding a surprising number to save out of my patch this year. Just spotted 2 new ones I like this morning. A small burgundy one with tightly rolled petals,,,looks like a small incurved cactus, and a small white that looks like a good cut flower.
Weather forecast looks like a wet fall coming for us. I suppose I should start saving seeds now but most are just opening their first blooms. I would like to enjoy them for myself first!
