Rossendale Peach is a lovely dahlia. It didn''t produce very many blooms but each one was lovely. I should have tubers but if you have more then you want, sure...It may also be Tahoma Amble which is what I was looking for in those un-named tubers I shared.Tahoma Amble changes a lot with the sun exposure so it can be anywhere between light peach and coral orange. (If it is not Rossendale Peach ). I may have found one Tahoma Amble in my garden (Just guessing at the ID of it.)The other one I was hoping to find is Andy''s Legacy. IT DID NOT show up in my garden this year and I was surprised to see that Swan Island is not selling it this year. I liked it a lot and hoped to buy a new tuber. Any one else grow it this year and have tubers?
The striped one looks like a Ferncliff one, I think the name was Mission Magic, .It is not one I want to give space to again. It was OK, but not popular at market.. Were those the noid tubers I shared with you? Thanks for growing them out!Thumb of 2018-10-13/Islander/37c669 Tahoma Amble maybe

I tip my hat to you. Benny, your Bloomquist Bethany is fantastic!
I purchased BQ Mike, but it got shaded out and hasn't bloomed. Guess I'll dig the tubers and try again next season.

Melissa, your Bloomquist Mike is worth trying to save. It was one of my most favorite dahlias this summer...

Thank you for that tidbit of information, Noni! :) I noticed that K Connell is selling a lot of the ones I didn't buy this year from Les and Viv, but not BQ Mike, so I will definitely try to save it.

Flower Power!
Melissa, What did you think about Castle Drive? Last year it was mentioned quite a bit on Instagram, as being the next best wedding flower after CAL.

Hey Tina! :) I absolutely adored Castle Drive! FD is a form I tend to gravitate towards, but the pale pink is not. I had two plants, both grown from cuttings from Stonehouse Dahlias, and there hasn't been a single crappy bloom on either of them, plus they stayed pretty large the entire season. My boyfriend convinced me to grow CAL this year...it wasn't my favorite, and I hate how difficult it is to make it look up in a bouquet (pancake face). He also marked Castle Drive as one he wants to grow next year...when I made him choose between the 2, he didn't hesitate and chose Castle Drive.

I had Castle Drive from several sources and not sure any plant survived to bloom for me...It was probalby the fault of the not so good garden crew I had this year at planting out time...They really messed up that row that had all my soft pink/peach/yellow Mballs and FD's.

Harold and Mabel Ayers would be proud of your flower. Ayers Glory was named partially after the name of it's seed parent England's Glory. They live near the Winston Wildlife Safari and can hear the African Lions roaring in the evening.

I'm sorry you never got to see Castle Drive, Noni. When I was frantic about the state of my cuttings, you helped me save it, and it thrived from your advice.

Flowers change color this time of the year even though their form is pretty much the same. I picked the bouquet above and Margaret really liked the dark pink cactus in it and was sure it was second year seedling that she knew I had not marked to keep. She wanted me to go out and mark it right away. Actually it was HH Summerwine that is normally a purple flower and is an excellent cut flower as it is a seedling of Lakeview Glow. We only have a couple of plants of it as I do not use it for breeding. The yellow flower is HH Julia and it got a deeper yellow. HH Sophia, normally the intense California poppy orange color, has turned to a golden yellow.

HH Summerwine is one of my favorite cuts, especially at this time of year. The color change of autumn gives it an almost neon glow. And I love the number of flowers I can cut from it! One of my tasks this week, as I contemplate a major reduction in number of plants grown next year will be to determine which plants I get the most usable blooms from in colors that sell well...HH Summerwine will definitely be on the keeper list. Another will be Ferncliff Tropics. Now to figure out who the others will be...(Pretty sure HH Black Beauty will be on it , as will some of my own seedlings like Going Dark/Twilight Girl, Snow Days and Sea Pearl. the Snow Days and Sea Pearl are very popular (And floriforous) for wedding flowers.

There are a lot of nice dahlias I grew this year and then just didn't sell many of..those are the ones to eliminate unless they are good seed parents.

As we go through the life stages of being as what Amanda calls a "DahliaAddict", (1)we plant a few dahlias and and fall in love with them.(2) We then go to the acquisition mode where we try to grow everything we see, everything we see pictures of and and everything, everything, everything.(3) then we start to get picky and figure out that we have our favorites and figure out that you cannot grow them all. (4) and in one of the final stages, we are satisfied that we once grew a variety but no longer grow it and that does not bother you and you insist that the ones you grow perform well but you still are tempted by all the new ones.

I don't know what stage I am at exactly, just that I'm far enough along to look back with a little nostalgia on when everything was new and I'd hardly tried any varieties at all yet and I knew nothing of virus issues, etc. But all the stages have their charms and challenges.
