I bet it will be a super nice waterlily I bought an old yellow waterlily named Peggy Jean from SI. It is quite useful in bouquets, a small yellow one on long stems. I really hadn't paid attention to it in the past but it caught my eye last fall in the catalog. And I picked a few really nice Sandia Shomei's this morning! I should have pinched that one back...

Sandia Shomei just keeps putting out bloom after bloom here
Is anyone growing HH Sprite this year? I want to get a tuber since I apparently didn't save it last year. (And it hasn't shown up int he Noids)...

I do not believe I have HH Sprite. I sold a lot of it over the years. It did not make seeds for us. Great cut flower if you like long stems.
Yes, it held a special place in my bouquets where I needed something smallish, long stemmed and light colored to go at the top of a bouquet. The other one I liked was Mission Pixie but all the plants looked virused this year and I pulled them. It was a pale yellow blushed lavender on long stems that looked like a waterlily but wasn't quite and a lovely bouquet flower.

I believe this is the first time I have seen HH Sprite in person , it's making a good impression , love the color and smaller blooms .

It doesn't have the cupped petals that all of mine are getting
I just had a couple of HH Monet open but they are to bug chewed to post - they have much more intense colors than Monet Glory.

Ah your photo shows it well Geof , my plant has the fernleaf foliage and everything but does not seem all that healthy , going to give it a big snoot full of Mag-Pro and potassium silicate to see if it perks up .

Now this is a Waterlily !!!!
I know one plant is at 6' already and the other is not far behind . Huge florets for a WL , big blooms ! Nice subtle color changes of golds , buttery yellow to a soft orange possibly soft pink in the right lighting , So far a fairly tidy upright growth habit , nice sturdy stems and the blooms seem to sit at just the right angle .

That is lovely - hope mine blooms like that. It was rabbit munched early and has made a good come back - but no blooms yet.

Nice WL, Benny. My HH Serenity bloomed early and is now taking a rest for the summer.
And this one was supposed to be Pam Howden, but its B sized on a 5.5ft plant, and not a water lily - any ideas?

Noni, what fish fertilizer do you use? How often? Do you foliar feed, or drench the roots? Thank you too for taking the time to photograph and post all those pictures of the Point Defiance Trial Garden. For those of us who don't live near one, it's a real treat to see a preview of next year's new offerings. Please give us a peek at Holly when you get a chance.
Sylvia I love Alpen Fury and have grown it for years. Lost mine this year but it definitely will be replaced.
Geoff, what did you do different this season - or was it just the weather? I don't ever remember your plants being so lush this early - the garden looks lovely! How close do you plant your roots? That's the look I'd like to have.
And Amanda - thank you for taking time from your chores to brighten our day. Mingus Mikie is gorgeous. Mine is on the virus suspect list so I will enjoy yours while I wait to see which way he goes. Ring of Fire is amazing. I thought I grew it one year but it turned out to be mislabeled. It's back on my wish list now. So is Hilltop Duncan Edwards. Now, back to your chores!

You guys are such slave drivers!
Love your pics, Geof. Especially Zapf's Desert Storm. I noticed many vendors are carrying it now and I can see why.
Em, I am living on an Island with limited farm supplies, so I just walked into the hardware store and bought a couple of gallon jugs of "Fish Fertilizer".No real choice in kinds of fish fertilizer... It didn't leave the garden smelling bad so it must have been the deodorized kind. Its a thick brown sludge and you mix it with water. I had my Wwoofer use it as a drench. I gave her a 2 gallon bucket and a measuring cup and had her dump about a pint around each plant. Definitely not high tech, but I don't do high tech...Not do I do heavy sprayers. Always looking for ways to keep things simple...and not get back strain. We put the buckets in the little red wagon and rolled it down the paths from plant to plant.(Loving my landscape fabric covered paths!)
