I am so glad to see HH Pink TIgress back! The pale part happened to be shaded by a leaf above it so not sure if it would have developed the red stripes or not. Hopefully it is just a one off variant.

I actually got to cut four blooms and use them in a couple of bouquets I'm taking to work tomorrow. Yay!
Now to go get some water proof minimally expanding foam for the holes in the stems.

Go Cynthia~
I'm at least a week away from a bouquet. So far it's a bloom here and another there, and rarely two open at the same time. But soon!

Well this is the first time I've had that many. I'd only had one or two, myself. But I've got close to 600 plants, Em, so don't feel bad. Four blooms off of 600 plants is just barely beginning!!

Western New York State Dahlias! Dahlias! Dahlias!
I have a bunch waiting to pop as well. I only have about 200 plants in the side garden near the house. They are a lot of the new intros, expensive dahlias, and show flowers. Lots of Accent, Hollyhill, and Blossom Gulch varieties there.

OK - so I don't feel so bad. I have about 150 plants with 10 in bloom right now. Many are very close to blooming, though. BQ Claret is so close, I have to look several times a day. Every morning I walk through the garden checking progress. And my old tom cat, Tater, follows me around and meows at me while I tell him about the plants. It's quite comical. Sometimes when I turn back to the house, he will grab my ankles and nip me! I think he wants me to stay.
Ah... not Bloomquist Claret. It's Clearview Claret that is just about to open.

It is so odd that I am so far ahead of many of you with blooms. As I recall I am usually trailing behind. These pics are all from this morning.
Finally got a good picture of Jax

I heard someone say you guys were starved for dahlia pics. Well fine, I will take pics of dahlias instead of doing my chores JUST for you all.
Below: Hillcrest Duncan Edwards (I am SO excited. After trying many reds for years, this one is finally the pure clear RED I've been looking for.) Mingus Mikie B
Below: Islander queening it over Marvelous Mans. (My first Islander bloom ever!) AC Ring of Fire dwarfing Islander. It's about six feet tall.

Geof - I'd love to walk in your garden every morning! Tater would, too. It's lovely.

Amanda - Hillcrest Duncan Edwards is stunning. It is a great shade of red. Thanks for the pix. Now go do your chores!
