They're way behind where I thought they'd be, but at least they're flowering. Green centers, big toothy grins, deformed and runty - but they ARE flowers.
In the future you will look back at your learning curve in learning to garden in Kentucky...

Yup! Gotta Love Raz Ma Taz!! Of the rest, the ones planted under the sunflowers are taller and a bit happier because they have shade, but I can't get to them!
I am learning SO much, again! Hopefully it will continue to apply!

Well, so far I like all the streaky ones, and #34. I like #35, too, but all it's blooms but one look to be facing the ground, so I think it would be a bit of a disappointment. I've had some like that, and the stem where it hooked into the bloom was weak, so the blooms just popped off - always at the most inconvenient moment, too!!
So far #33 is the attention getter. People spot it from a distance because it is BIG and they rush to it. Sorry I don't have the size designations for most of these because little kids(or birds maybe?) come along and pull the tags with the size and catagory. We are always looking for them and putting them back when we can find them. I can guess but I wouldn't necessarily be right.
I also like#29, #50-52. Numbers that do not appear here either haven't bloomed yet, didn't grow, or were removed. There are still a fair number that have not bloomed.

Well, I didn't realize that the virusy looking foliage belonged to 34, until I just now saw that.
Of course, in your new batch, I LOVE 51, 52 & 59.
The madness continues!!!

Western New York State Dahlias! Dahlias! Dahlias!
Another AC Loomis, and a Fuzzy Fuzzy that came labelled as Wyn's Scorpion. It gets the boot after the county fairs. It doesn't belong in the show garden.

Thanks for sharing the trial garden pics. #34 is my favorite. Too bad about the foliage. :(

Several plants are in bloom now:
Alpen Chips - blooms last only one day in the heat.
Alpen Fury - loves the heat and blooms profusely
Bon Odori - most of the flowers are pure red; only about 1 in 10 have the red and white stripes. It does have the great anemone form, though.
Bloomquist Obeisance - My favorite new flower so far. The web site said red, but I would say Magenta. Perfect anemone form - big bulbous center with outer ring of petals swept back Tolerates the heat very well - blooms are lasting about a week, and it is far over 100 here. Plant is covered with dozens of flowers. Orginally all the heads were facing downward, but they all picked up.
Camano Concord
Mexico - not fully open here
Verrone's Sophie - supposed to be red, but for me closer to salmon? Probably a result of the sun, though red is usually a great color here.
Wheels - another favorite. Heat-loving, prolific bloomer. Planted next to Alpen Fury makes a striking combination.

Alpen Fury was probably my happiest plant, last year, bloomwise. It has already started down the same road to excellence this year, as well.
