Funny, Steve. I was thinking the same thing.
It’s all about the marketing. “Dull red flower” has about the same appeal as “going to the doctor”.
Maybe “Dusky Crimson” would work.

I'm not great at marketing. When I referred to Cafe Au Lait as a "dirty pink" color my broker informed me it was an "antique white" color.

Yes, the reddish color needs a catchy name and "Dull Red" is not it.
Red Blush.
Ginger as redheads are "gingers" in the UK
Watermelon
Ultra red is a color formulated by Crayola in 1972. In 1990, the name of the color was changed to wild watermelon.
Desert Coral
Mocha Red

Andrea is right. It's all about marketing and with events trending to a more muted pallette having a corresponding "red" dahlia to add to the selection process would be a good thing.
I have a new intro that is this brick red that has been a favorite of local florists. I'll be using the term "boho red" in the description because I'm not afraid to tap into my millennial roots. Lol.

I don’t grow many reds, but I sure like these new ones.
Cosey- Boho Red is perfect!
Margaret does not like the term "Boho" red. When she comes up with a better color name, I will post it.
The flower is the second year seedling that does not make the cut as a premier show flower but certainly has a lot going for it. Nice 6 foot plants too.

I just had 4 florists out in the dahlia field yesterday and I asked them what color my 'red' seedling is. They all just stared at it.
One said watermelon. One said coral (that's a big nope.) Another said it's a shade of orange (really?!) The 4th suggested crimson.
So I walked over to HH Code Red which I consider a true valentine red rose color and had them look again. One florist called Code Red burgundy. At this point I gave up! Lol.
And don't get me started on what the color Peach is. All four chose different shades of orange for peach. Interesting enough, none had a red blush. At the end of the night I was no closer to describing my soft red seedling and they all fell in love with 20th Ave Softer Peach.

Gasp! I keep getting swindled out of tubers for this one. Haha. (Says every dahlia buyer who didn't get what they wanted.)

I don't think there really is a dahlia named "Hollyhill Serenity". I think there is a select group of dahlia growers who are playing a cruel joke on the rest of us naive dahlia addicts. They have photoshopped a peony and changed the color to make it look like a dahlia. They named it "Hollyhill Serenity" (an ironic name) and they promote it on all social media sites (like this one). When it is listed for sale by the participating jokester vendors it turns out that it is always "Out of Stock"or otherwise unavailable. That is because there is no such dahlia. The participants in this HSP (Hollyhill Serenity Prank) have a secret Facebook page where they share their joy and exchange tales resulting from their warped, sick humor.
The jig is up!

HH Serenity is an average tuber maker. In the realm of cut flower growers that would be slightly below average. It is growing quite well this year and there should be a few tubers for sale. Never count your chickens before they hatch. The word for such statements is an "adage".
Fish and visitors stink after three days.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.
Hollyhill varieties are always easy to find.

The world needs that red seedling Ted, it is wonderful. Steve, I don't think there is a prettier peony, oops, I mean dahlia than Hollyhill Serenity

HSP…
I definitely have a warped sense of humor, but I promise I’m only trying to share beauty and not taunt you!
WL style is by far the most photogenic. The way they furl and unfurl gives many opportunities for pretty pics!
