Some 2021 seedlings. Margaret likes the flame one.

How do we start a seedling thread? I would love to see all the seedlings in one spot.
This is not a seedling. I love the coloring of Nicholas.

Latest kitchen bouquet. I picked second and third year flowers only as we are saving seeds from the main garden. The table is just a bit more messy than usual.
Hint: The person who arranged these flowers into a quasi arrangement was NOT Margaret.
The flower (Ball Orange) in the lower right is Catalina bred by our late good friend Mike Iler.

I'm coming over for tomato sandwiches and dahlias. Haha. If I waited to have a clean table to bring flowers in, I'd never see them in the house.

Bloomquist Tori P, Kelgai Ann, and a cream seedling of mine. Tori P is a lavender blush in my climate. I've seen pictures where she is more pink.

Great bunch of seedlings and my favorite brand of pistachios!

Nice! What size is the Bloomquist Tori P plant and bloom for you?
I remember Bloomquist Tori P in the test garden. I am sure it was well fertilized and it was a mountain of a blooming plant..Not terribly tall but just overflowing with blossoms...it stole my heart with the tender pink color!IT is not one of the ultra tall ones. I think in my garden 4' more or less. I sure hope mine makes good tubers this year!

In my well water, well fed field it's a 4' plant. Bloom is in the 3" range. I don't disbud. It's not a super product plant (like Blizzard or Cornel Bronze). It was on a row end so it had plenty of space. I'll grow it again but if subsequent plants are like the 1 I have this year, I won't be able to rely heavily on it for cuts each week. Maybe every other.

I still remember sitting down with Paul Bloomquist for our bag lunch at a Federation meeting-seminar several years ago. . I mentioned the the cut flower people really like Bloomquist Tory P. He looked at me and after a minute or so he said did not remember that one. I know how that works as several of our originations have faded from my memory and I need lots of clues to remind myself which one it is.

I posted this picture on the Portland Dahlia Society Facebook page and got over 100 likes.
The flower is at the trial garden and I bet some of you could probably guess who entered it and it was not us.

Size? I'm guessing 5".
Another ADS double medal winner?
How does her growth habit compare to HH Black Beauty or HH Black Magic?
Unlike the rest of the world, I have a tough time growing HH Black Beauty. My "go to" dark red (100 plants) this year was HH Black Magic. A bouquet of HH Black Magic with Camano Cloud is stunning.

First year seedling means we know almost nothing about it yet except it can take nice picture.
Black Magic does not sell well and I have been growing very little of it.

Ted, you mean you don't have a wall of fame? Do you know Jessica Strickland, from Jess' Dahlia Garden has 57 of your varieties she sells? Her website is https://www.jessdahliagarden.com/search-results?q=HOllyhill in case anyone is interested in what she grows.
She grows 47 Bloomquist varities, 66 AC varities, 20 Sandia, and Salish Twilight Girl
