Hollyhill Margarita is one of my favorites. The one I bought this year didn't make it to plant out It's actually sparkly.

Oh I remember the first year I grew dahlias and was proudly posting photos of an open-centered "Spectacle", it was the only open centered dahlia I had but I was so proud of it.

Only one plant blooming here, the orange seedling. This is the second bloom. Still say it would look better in pink.

I posted this one to Facebook and it has gotten 171 likes so far. After about 160 or so likes, I showed it to Margaret and even she said she liked it. It is rather pathetic that the season is going so slow and I have to resort to altering pictures.

I'm enjoying the photos very much. No dahlias blooming here yet. So no new pics to share.
I'd happily own any of those Ted. I find their shape amusing as well as beautiful and they certainly stand out in an arrangement.

Zephyr is probably extinct as it was never released by the Ilers and it was very poor tuber maker. Now that Mike is deceased, I doubt that it made through the winter when she did not dig them.

Some colors of flowers are really easy for the camera. This picture has only been cropped a bit and the camera got the color and focus just right. I am sure glad I do not have to manually focus as my eyes are not up to it.On my other camera, the SLR you need to manually focus for the best shots. . All I have to do with this camera is make sure the little focus box is on the portion of the flower I want and it does the focus for me. Seedling 1837 that has had about 8 flowers so far on 3 bushes and it is 4.5 feet tall and still growing.

Picture came out nice but this one is very flat and I am doubtful that it has much of a future.

"I like the white pom seedling!" I worry that I may like it too much and have tendency to go overboard with with pictures and such. Having said that, the plants are 5.5 feet tall in the full sun and have lots of long stemmed flowers on them. Remember that poms generally grow 3.5 feet tall and are a pain in the butt to grow and harvest for cut flowers. I cannot help but believe the cut flower people will love it. On the show side, it is about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch too big to be a regulation pom. There are people who who will grow oversize flowers with lots of extra stalks to make the flowers smaller and it could be shown as pom. The best show pom in white is the 1935 pom called Little Willo. It has extremely nice pom flowers in the classic shape and size and still wins prizes in the shows. BUT it is a terrible tuber-maker keeper As with just about everybody, I grew it and then lost it. It would be a pretty darn good cut flower too if it made tubers as it grew almost 4 feet tall for me.
Little Willo in 2010 winning best in show at Portland.
Ted, I don't think we could have too many shots of the white almost pom...Sure wish I had it growing here this year. You know there have been a lot of people looking for white wedding flowers but they turn up their nose at the lavender blush on HH Miss White. This looks like just what they want.

I love those two colors together. They are cheerful and uplifting.
