Hollyhill Regal is one of my favorites that I always try to have stock of.

Yes, not much point in going outside today as the rain has been pretty steady and I struggle enough to see with my glasses clean and dry. Not a lot I can do with rain on my lenses...

There will be battle of the red waterlilies this year as several red WL seedlings have been marked to grow again and this sport of HH Tiger Rose is nice too.

I'm growing Hollyhill Regal this year. Always in pursuit of a nice purple one. How tall does it grow for you?

I think it is one of those 6 footers. I seem to remember some of the dahlia club members discussing it and saying it was too tall for them because they were under 6' themsleves and they couldn't see the blooms or deadhead. I found that kind of funny. I'm 5'8" mysself and I really like tall ones. You can see them from a lot farther away.

I almost didn't ask. Most Hollyhill's seem to be 6', but I'm always interested in someone's “real” experience. Seems to be a slow grower right now, maybe it'll shoot up soon.

Thumb of 2021-06-23/Islander/ebd9ce "Corsage" lily
Thumb of 2021-06-23/Islander/078368 ..And no, Maui Baby hasn't faded..I just did not take time to edit the photo to look like what my eyes were seeing. Its just as bright as it was yesterday and photographed this morning, early.

Day 4 for Maui Baby and she has found a new friend...First bloom for me of "Corsage" lily, one I have long coveted! Oh the bouquets we will make....Its a pretty little Asiatic Lily from THE LILY GARDEN catalog.

My niece is visiting the Chicago Botanical Garden today and sent me a few pics. I won't post the "dayalas" as she called them but she sent a nice one of some lilies named "Forever Susan". My Susan's favorite flowers are lilies and she has quite a few, but not this one. I do have the matching dahlia though, but don't have a pic just yet. Any guesses?Thumb of 2021-06-23/ksc/1aa884

Those are so pretty! I loved lilies even before I met dahlias. I have collected quite a few unusual ones to go in my limited cut flower beds and it will be such fun to see them bloom. I have seen Forever Susan in catalogs and really liked it but never bought it.. Thanks for showing it. I put in a few Martagon lilies last fall but haven't seen any blooms...I am not sure how many actually came up. Its as hard to limit myself on lilies as it is to limit my dahlias.

Flower Power!
I planted a handful of Casa Blanca lilies this year and would like to add more varieties next year. Forever Susan has such rich coloring and would be beautiful in my garden. Thanks for sharing her.

River's Coral:
Eugene Kenyon of Rivers Dahlias has been concentrating more on raising the family and his job in recent years. He is an excellent breeder and we all would like to see more of his stuff.

I have to get my son to help me with my photo program...I got a new computer but it wants my photos to go somewhere other then where I chose for then to go. Its making me bonkers trying ot share photos!

Nice color! It is a popular color/blush this year at my broker. Will she be having her coming-out-party this year?

2020 WL seedling in 2021 and photographed in full sun so I closed own the aperture so the white would have some definition and that makes the foliage a bit darker.
