My pot tuber of Dikara Superb is blooming. Looks interesting at half size. The UK growers say it is extremely reliable and easy to grow good show flowers. Margaret had no idea of it's name when she selected some it for an arrangement a year or so ago. It does make some seeds and we have some in the seedling garden but no blooms yet.

Me too! Very early bloomer. 2nd one to open in my main garden, Chilson’s Pride was first.

Hollyhill Gladiator with one pink petal!

I wonder if HH Gladiator has a pink sport. Every time (twice) that I have seen a pink petal on a orange bloom it has eventually produced a pink sport. It might take thousands of blooms but I would bet that if you plant an acre of HH Gladiator at least one branch will sport to pink.

Steve, Peachy Keen still looks perfect on day 5 in the vase.
I did use QuikDip on the stems. And there’s not much else to muck up the vase water. I’m noticing a very slight lean to some of the lower petals that makes me think they’ll probably be going downhill on Day 6. But a five day vase life makes me happy.

Thanks for the update Julia! I would also be happy with 5 days, especially with a SC. I cut my first bloom of Peach Keen yesterday. She deserves both of the awards she received last year.

20th Ave Baker Road is such a good plant and flower. If you disbud it's a rather large bloom for it's shape. (It also makes seed.)

I am glad to see HH Buttermilk as we have lost it. It was never a good tuber maker and that is the kiss of death here.

The color of Bloomquist York is stunning. Very sfumato - sort of a rusty deep raspberry.

Ted, I bought it as Buttermilk, but still think of it as Lemon Chiffon!

Sfumato! Great word. It is a painting that I will add to my gallery of "must have" dahlias.
I have myfirst HH Maisie Blooms! What a pretty little flower!

Wow. That BQ York is stunning. Time to Google sfumato.

BQ York is a monster plant. I can barely reach the top. I hope it’s a decent tuber producer/keeper. I have one tuber plant and one cutting plant - I’m planning on growing a ton more next year if I can. It may be my favorite bloom so far this year. (Mr. Julia, who is not a gardener/flower person, has declared that it is “Obviously the best” )
I wish yellow would get back into our dahlia paintbox! I just love this seedlings and pick it often for my house. Look at the long stems!
I could make any type of a bouquet with those. The flowers are miniature, about 3-4" across.

Noni, I’m really loving yellow this year too. Although I think I’m tending more towards the sunflower yellows. I’m really enjoying Hollyhill Golden Boy and Fercliff Spice.
I also got this seedling from Mountain Diva that is turning out to be pretty fun. In person, the yellow is a bit richer and contrasts more with the blush highlights. The stems are pretty short, so not a good arrangement flower, but it’s fun in a little coffee table vase.

Salish Twilight Girl grown in PA. Well done Noni! I get why people are infatuated with it. Count me as part of the club!

Everyone's dahlias are looking lovely. Mine are still weeks away from blooming, it is so nice to see all of yours! I got a late start this year. That Salish Twilight Girl is stunning, and BQ York is gorgeous. Cair Paravel looks very pretty, mine doesn't even have buds yet. Noni, I love yellow dahlias, and your seedling looks great.
