I took photos at the Test Garden today...I hope I will have time to post them tonight. There are some real beauties starting to bloom but probably only about half have showed their stuff yet. However, there are so many more then last week!
Tacoma Test Garden continued #44...this picture does not do this one justice...it is the brightest pure orange and gold! Really a standout for color! #45 miniature #49
So far my picks are 24,44,58,16. I would say between 30 and 50% are open now. There should be a real explosion of color by next week since we have been having 80 degree days all week.

Oh man, I am so jealous of everyone's blooms. I only have a few including a Skipley Bonanaza turning out the same color as sylvia's. I purchased this "Mr. Optimistic" in a bag of 5 tubers from Walmart and honestly wasn't expecting much but it pretty much looks like the photo on the bag.

Yes, 58 is stunning but this was the only bloom on the plant that looked this good. Maybe the others were just not to that point yet but we will keep a watch on it and see how it blooms over the summer.

York and Lancaster (as stated in old house garden catalogue) history is a mystery. One expert says it was rediscovered in a chateau garden and dates to 1915. Another says it was found growing in a rual hamlet neear Lyon and dates to the 1850's. Every flower of this plant is different. A few open deep red a few pearly white, but most are an un predictable mix of both. Even though the flowers are small you wait to see what you will get from this plant.

Nutley Sunrise, Country Superstar, AC Zed
Love Nutley Sunrise. The first flush of flowers is at least A size and beautiful colors, plus vigorous, productive plant. AC Zed is also pretty healthy.

Thank you SO much for posting a picture of Nutley Sunrise! One of my cats puked on the Swan Island 2017 catalog, so I sometimes browse the 2016 one. NS went on my wish list a few weeks ago...not even sure how I missed it 2 years in a row...

Great Pics, All!
I have a few opening in my beds, but definite insect damage on almost every thing so far, so not worth posting pictures.
