Bloomquist Bethany group shot of BLoomquist Bethanys
This is the first dahlia I picked out for myself at this years Trial garden in Tacoma! Bloomquist Bethany(Stake 40) scored 90.2 in the Trial Garden and I already have it on order from Les and Viv. The other Bloomquist one I ordered for myself is Bloomquist Mike with a score of 87.7.
Bloomquist winners were
( stake) #40 Bl Bethany
#44 Bloomquist Brook at 88
#48 Bloomquist Dandelion at 89.5
#47 Bloomquist Jean# at 86.2
#42 Bloomquist Joel at 88.2
#39 Bloomquist Laura 88.7
#41 Bloomquist Mary85.83
#43 Bloomquist Mike 87.7
The other one of these Bloomquist winners that I should have ordered is Bloomquist Brook. Now that I have the ID on it I recognize it as the small yellow and orange one with the very bright colors and lots of flowers that I noted earlier when photographing the Test Garden. The colors are more intense then show up in the photographs. They should make eye popping bouquets! I hate to put Viv through changing my order though!

Your image of Bethany made me run out and buy it. What a wonderful image and dahlia!
I thought it was beautiful all summer! It drew me in like cheese to a mouse! I love working with this style, shape and size and the colors add nicely to the range of oranges in Crazy4Carol. Now we need a nice PURPLE Min IC on long stems , and a white one...please! OH my goodness, can you imagine a wedding bouquet made up of miniature white incurved cactus dahlias?!
Crazy4Carol had a lot of open centered blooms. I don't remember that happening so much with Bl Bethany but maybe I was never the one to deadhead them at the garden. I didn't get to the garden as much between the Tacoma folks switching days around for Dr appts, and then my family wedding...
Actually I had a lot of open entered blooms on new varieties this year..don't now whether it was the weather or poor stock from the providers....

Name: Ted Oregon We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
Min IC dahlias have been nearly impossible to breed as the seedlings are all too big. Now that there are few around maybe it can be done.
