I don't recall that one, Ted, or else it looks very different here. What size flower is it? I'll look back through the last set of pics when I have time. I was not able to work at the garden today. Hope to be there next week.

I thought it might be 23 in your pictures. It is about 6 inches in diameter.

What were your thoughts on it, Ted? I will reveal details after they are judged.
I think that is one we liked and I suspected that it might be the one you showed us, just hadn't had time to check. I think this is also one that faded out to look a lot like my Evening Glow (Which means it faded quite a bit during our hot spell.)but that I have to go back and check on it..also I will take a photo next week when I go over and we will see how it is looking now.
Myrtle Bloomfield turned 101 on March 5th this year. She has moved in with her daughter this year.

Thanks for the info Ted it is always more fun when you know some of the history behind the dahlias.

I used to belong, but one year I went to the garden during a show and asked if I was allowed in. The guy at the door said no in a nasty way. As you know I spent almost thirty years as a police officer. I have had enough of people talking bad to me. So for my own self respect I stopped paying to be verbally abused.

Margaret has started to put together her arrangements for the show this weekend. She has some new weathered wood that should look really good and I spent an hour or so mounting it on a block of wood so it will stay put. She has selected two white vases for the class calling for white flowers and cut some evergreens and other appropriate greens. They have a class for a nosegay and she is still in the thought process on that one but has her 12 inch wreath designed. Her vertical has been designed. She has selected a miniature wooden treasure chest for the miniature arrangement. The water design needs to be done but it depends a lot on available flowers.
She is going to do a basket and we hope to have some Black Beauty but doubtful.
The next issue is who gets what flowers. She wants show flowers for the arrangements and I need show flowers for the show.

Whoever gets the cutting shears first is going to win.
Ted and Margaret each sneaking out at the crack of dawn to beat each other to the flowers, until they crash into each other while rounding the end of a row.. .

I am going to post a picture of Buttermilk in a day or two showing it being used in floral work. It has exceeded all my expectations.

I can picture husband and wife negotiating over who gets the prime dahlias for a show. It's really nice to see that this group has a good sense of humor...
