We attended a garden party at Doc Peters home today and were treated to a very inspiring display , lots of beautiful dahlia in bloom . I intend to take more photos but was way too busy jabber jawing and ogling flowers .
Wyn's Aspen Glow
Brian R
Hy Clown
Hollyhill Spiderwoman
Skipley Spot
A Zeppelin sized bloom of Hollyhill Big Red , slightly past its prime yet still impressive
Irish Pinwheel
Jomanda
Pam Howden
Found and learned a quite a few new things in a very short time today , it was a humbling experience to see such beautiful and well cultivated dahlia that are probably 2-4 weeks ahead of ours in maturity and light years ahead in bloom size . He claims that they use only a yearly application of 4" of well composted horse manure for fertilizer , with visibly impressive results.
Beautiful, Benny! I have a Brian R that I received as a bonus a few years ago. I got it in late and it didn't have much time to bloom but the ones it did provide were very impressive. Its coming along nicely this year but no blooms yet. I am really looking forward to its blooms this year.

There were two or three plants of Brian R and it really stood out amongst a garden of other very nice blooms , a nice looking plant also . Seems I failed to get photos of a very nice Bloomquist Barbra , Vassio Meggos and Spartacus, way too much visual stimulation for my slow mental processor .

Somehow Doc manages to get a LOT of dahlia into a mid sized garden and have room to walk around many of the plants , that is yet another trick I need to learn .

Wonderful photos, thank you Noni! I'm so glad you captured the numbers, as I like to see how they change as fall approaches. It will also be nice to be able to find out where to get the ones we can't live without!

Noni, in your first and last posts there are #2s, but they appear to be totally different flowers. Can you clarify? Also in your last group, the collarette and the one following don't have numbers posted. Do you have those?
I will check on the numbers tomorrow and what they are up to. And hopefully we will have some new blooms also. This week should have produced a lot less sun fading, though of course we want to know about that before we buy them...
Lots of new blooms at the garden today. I will post my photos later...I am tired tonight. It was fun to have new blooms to see though, and the weather has been much kinder to them this week.
But here is just one I am totally mad about...I SO want this for my cut flower business....Its #45. ...NOW THAT IS the color of yellow I want! And I think my customers would love it.

Nice! Looks like a stellar. Wow, is that one bush with all those matched blooms coming at once?
CC< #46 is even cleaner looking then the camera shows...It is millions of tiny red flecks on white, not blending into pink like it looks in the photo. I think "Candy" everytime I see it, but not just dime store candy. I think this one might be a very classy dessert served at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea coast

#44 is Big Fun. Great drama in #43. #57 looks like Mingus Mikie B.

I was looking at that one with puzzlement, wondering about if it might be classified as a flame and how it would do in the shows depending on that classification. It reminds me a bit of an orange Urchin.

#46 looks like it is trying to be a cactus, but isn't rolling tight enough so far to fit the description. A good cactus gets full enough to look ball shaped sometimes, like Ted's seedling:
Flames are two-color blends, yellow with orange or red, and #46 looks to be all one color with a tiny bit of yellow in the center. I think it will be classified as a red.
