OK, So I think you are saying that ANY white and colored stripey flower MIGHT have a problem with wilting? And that it depends on how sparse the white pigment is in any of them but it can vary? I noticed NO problem with my beautiful Santa Claus flowers. So it is more a problem with uneven distribution of pigment then that white is inferior. Thank you...I think that straightened it out in my mind ..

Yes, a lack of white pigment causes browning and burning. Some bicolors seem to have more problems than others. We have had a pretty nice white waterlily seedling burn badly and you could see that there was not much white pigment. It is compost now.

Any photo examples of burned petals from lack of white pigmentation?

When the flowers are really bad, I tend to pull them out as opposed to taking their picture. Having said that here is a picture of a tricolor bloom that had burn on the white areas of the petals. The subsequent blooms were much worse and the flower went from fairly nice to a real loser. The white portions of these petals have very little pigment and burn really easily.

Ah yes! I do remember some bicolored blooms with this issue.
