I think La Luna might have to join my garden 2016 after I see who needs kicking out of the patch from this summer...I will see how the big ones sell for me this summer...I know I can sell some, but not how many of them...

Annie, I have been growing dahlias since 2005, when I bought some from ... Publisher's Clearing House. They needed to expand, so somehow they got into selling bulbs/tubers. I still recall that year with the horrible tropical storm - my back yard was not level there, so the water pooled up around the dahlia plants, and I was out there in the dark with a pail scooping the water away from them.
I should have some tubers to offer up for postage next Spring, not as many as I would like due to time constraints and the bad weather. Not sure if they froze all the way down this past week, but probably. I really wanted to get the Alpen Pauline up as I thought I had one coming but I don't. I should have a Ponderosa available.

I'm loving this January treat! Great that you grow some unusual ones mixed in with the classics. I'm really liking Morgenster, Ponderosa and Devon Seattle. Tell us more about the growth habits etc.

Name: Ted Oregon We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
Korb Red Rebel is not seen much as are many of your varieties. Dan Korb was a dahlia breeder in Oregon and we visited his place years ago. He dropped out of the dahlia scene several years ago. He had one called Wine-eo that was a real interesting one as it was the darkest purple with white tips. It suffered the fate of many seedlings: it was just not very vigorous and would not grow and tubers would not store. Korb Yellow Highlight is still one of the best yellow and white bicolors and it makes so many good tubers that you could supply three dahlia clubs with a couple of plants.
Anyone familiar with Hilltop know when they are likely to open?

Yes, I got Brandy Bay from Hilltop. In the first picture of the empty beds its in one of those 8" pots on the edge. I sent Hilltop an email some time ago, but I got no response.
Red Empire was a small B I would say, or maybe a BB. It had a whole lot of branches though.

I've placed an order with Hilltop weeks ago. Their "add to cart" links are live and I paid on Paypal. Some are only available as plants and others as tubers. I'm thinking they just kept the same varieties in their catalog for now and will maybe update later. That's what River's did too.

Western New York State Dahlias! Dahlias! Dahlias!
I grew Red Empire a couple of years ago. It was on the large side of B (8"). But I usually pinch the center branch out before I plant, and disbud as the season goes. It was more of a garden flower for me: form's not consistent, doesn't have a long vase life. Probably why I replaced it with Bert Pitt.
