Woo hoo! Look out creepy critters!

You will love it for dahlia shots, too. Is it a 100?

It is a 50mm film lens from the 1990s. Since it is a full frame lens it is about the equivalent of a 75mm lens on my APS-C camera. My other 50mm prime lens works very well and is a 1.7. This one is a 2.8 but is a 1:1 macro and closest focus is 7.5 inches. It is supposed to be even sharper than my 1.7 prime lens. And it is auto focus too.

Picture of Woodland's Taco Time and Hollyhill Regal. I believe that the true purple color of Regal is the result of using the Adobe rgb setting on the camera and then I saved the picture after cropping using sRGB. For those of you who have cameras with lots of settings on your camera, you can try this to get true purple colors in dahlias.

And would Darcy post a copy of her winning photo of the bug?

If I had more say in my house decorations, I'd definitely be hitting you up for purchasing dahlia photos. :)

Darcy what macro lens do you shoot with?

I use a 35 mostly on my Nikon 99% of the time, but am contemplating getting a macro for fun.

Love that ladybug photo.

I know! I thought the same thing & almost didn't enter any. I mean...Dahlias are all about color, right. Then I decided it was a challenge & I do like a challenge. So, I thought...if you can't see color what would make a Dahlia look good? And, of course it was form. So, I picked my favorite "form" Dahlia's & shot those.

Thanks Portia!

I shoot Canon & have the 100 Macro 2.8. Macro isn't for everyone, but I LOVE it. I could sit for an hour at one bloom, and still find different shots. It really makes you look at things differently.
