Wow Linda!! That is going to the top of my want list! Love the color combo. Raspberry and yellow is my fav color combo but thy might vie for that position. It looks the same tones of Pam Howden which I'm loving!

Em was nice enough to send me a "Verrone's Morning Star" earlier this year and this is the result so far.

My favorite photo of the year so far is this Clara Marie.
Also from this morning
Ken's Rarity

Ken's Rarity is amazing! I ordered one from Old House Dardens and it wasn't doing much. Dug it up and it was rotting in the middle, going both ways on the tuber...darned!

Name: Ted Oregon We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
We grew Ken's Rarity for 4 or 5 years and it does have pretty flowers but we liked Canoz Anne better. Neither were vigorous enough for our breeding program and we no longer grow them. Most waterlilies are not very vigorous and need to be tied up with care. Pam Howden is especially bad at flopping. We still have Pam Howden and we use it for breeding to get nicely shaped flowers and certainly not to get vigorous bushes or truckloads of nice tubers. Numerous seedlings of Pam Howden have the same vigor problem but when crossed back to something vigorous there may be some hope.

Honnat - all 3 of those are really nice!
I am looking forward to V. Morning Star this year too, but it was chomped by the groundhog, so behind schedule.

Ted, I sometimes get the feeling that nothing short of Jack's Beanstalk is vigorous enough for your breeding program!
I picked up Clara Marie on spec at our club sale this spring, and it looks like she's a cutie! Thanks for the picture, Honnat.
I do like Canoz Anne and have her growing...I think. She was pretty nice last year. But she is more coral red pink and I like the particular tones of pink and yellow in the picture of Ken's Rarity. I also liked Linda's picture of her hybrid from Ken's Rarity that she showed us last year.
Right now I am not as interested in breeding new dahlias as I am in just having a lot of blooms so I can see what I do have I did pick 2 buckets of them yesterday, and sold a big bouquet with AC Abby and Smokebush including the "Smoke" for a special order. So they are coming, even though they are short and working hard to grow.

Klankstad Kerkrade is a 1954 intro. This compact dahlia' bouquet sized poofs of soft primrose yellow you will look forward to. Klandstad means "sound city" and Kerkrade is the Dutch town that in 1951 launched what is now the world's most famous band festival.
